Dear Taylor Parent Community,



I am writing to you as a fellow parent and as someone who is committed to furthering our children's experiences here at Taylor. I recently learned that our community is at risk of losing the Millbrae Education Fund (MEF) for the 2025-26 school year. 



How does this affect your child?

This means that all Millbrae elementary schools and Taylor Middle School may not secure necessary funding to advance learning through critical supplemental programming (like science, technology, and math) and overall well-being. PTA contributions alone cannot cover this gap.



What does MEF do for your child?

Did you know that critical programming and teaching salaries are not 100% covered by the state or school district? This is where MEF steps in to play a crucial role in supplementing our children's education and social well being. Without this support, Millbrae kids are at risk of not having the fundamental and unique opportunities other school districts may offer (e.g., in-class CamEd STEAM program or dedicated music teacher).



What can you do to help?

The MEF needs 3 critical positions to operate compliantly and we have none filled to date: President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Each role has varying levels of time commitment but can be manageable if scoped appropriately or done with a co-partner. Coming from someone who had never held a PTA board position before (while managing a full-time job) - trust me, I know it's not for everyone but it can be done.
