Dear fellow changemaker,
How are you holding up? To call this a “turbulent time” is an understatement. Initiatives are being canceled, grants retracted, jobs cut, and institutions dismantled. Many leaders are grappling with impossible decisions, huge moral dilemmas, and an onslaught of actions that threaten our viability as organizations and our humanity as people. How do we get through this?
I’ve talked with over 100 social sector leaders in the past few months, and the consensus is that there’s an ongoing, deliberate push to make our communities sicker, less informed, and more isolated. Therefore, I believe our imperative is to find new ways to keep people healthy, educated, and connected. This might not look like the hospitals, schools, or programs we’re used to, but leaders are building alternatives as we speak.
For our part, we are working to help Pissed-Off Optimists stay connected. We’re hosting Angry Hours in cities across the U.S., with more to come. We re-launched our Social Design Database so folks like you can find partners and clients. And we’re continuing to host monthly Fireside Chats to share ideas and inspiration.
Thank you for all that you do to keep your people safe, informed, and together. That’s how we get through this.
