Welcome to the first edition of the Oakville Lynx Pickleball Club Newsletter!
Our club was officially established just 4 months ago, on April 9, 2025, and in that short time, we’ve grown into a vibrant and passionate community of players, volunteers, and supporters. Whether you're a founding member or just joined recently, this newsletter is for you - a place to stay updated on events, celebrate milestones, and stay connected with the Lynx family. - Volunteer Shoutout: Sharlene Weng - For her unwavering dedication and pursuit of perfection in everything she does - from designing our club logo, team uniforms, and merchandise, to serving as the key liaison with various vendors. She takes the initiative to negotiate pricing and coordinate shipments to ensure our team gear is both high quality and cost-effective. On top of that, she handles the tedious but essential task of daily bookkeeping - meticulously recording every transaction, no matter how small, and ensuring that everyone stays up to date with weekly event payments. We are incredibly grateful for the countless hours she invests behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly! 💙🧡
- Jack of All Trades: Janet Liu - She truly does it all! From her pivotal role in the success of our June 22 event at CourtX - where she skillfully delegated tasks across teams and negotiated a great deal with the venue - to serving as referee during our August 4 mini tournament, ensuring everything ran smoothly and on time within the two-hour window. Her leadership, initiative, and attention to detail have made a lasting impact. But her talents don’t stop there - she’s also a wonderful chef, well known for her delicious and healthy dishes. Her dinner parties are always a hit, bringing people together with warmth, great food, and community spirit. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a versatile and dedicated member in our club. Thank you for everything you do! 💙🧡
- Rising Star: Chenghui Xiao - Young, but truly formidable. As the youngest member of our club, she has already demonstrated remarkable leadership and initiative. She plays an active role on two key committees - Social Media and Youth Programs - where her creativity and drive shine through. She has been instrumental in helping manage our Instagram account, consistently bringing fresh ideas and engaging content to grow our online presence. Beyond that, she has taken an active role in organizing family-friendly events, helping to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all ages. Her energy, maturity, and commitment set a great example for others, and we’re excited to see her continued growth! 💙🧡

- 万能好帮手：Janet Liu - 她真的是无所不能！从 6 月 22 日 CourtX 活动中的关键角色 - 高效协调各小组任务、与场地方成功谈下优惠价格，到 8 月 4 日迷你锦标赛中担任裁判，在两小时的紧凑时间内确保比赛有序进行、准时结束，她的领导力、主动性和细致入微的执行力都留下了深刻印象。但她的才华远不止于此 - 她还是一位令人称赞的厨艺高手，擅长制作美味又健康的料理，她举办的晚宴总是大受欢迎，让大家在美食中感受到家的温暖与浓浓的社区情谊。我们非常幸运能够拥有这样一位多才多艺、热心投入的成员。感谢你为俱乐部所做的一切，Janet！💙🧡
- 明日之星：Chenghui Xiao - 年纪轻轻，却实力非凡！ 作为俱乐部最年轻的成员，Chenghui 已经展现出令人瞩目的领导力与主动性。她积极参与俱乐部两个核心委员会 - 社交媒体组和青少年项目组，在这两个领域中，她的创意和执行力闪闪发光。她是我们管理 Instagram 账号的重要推手，持续为账号注入新鲜创意和互动内容，极大提升了我们的线上影响力。同时，她也积极参与组织亲子活动的任务，致力于营造一个友好、包容、适合各年龄段球友的氛围。她的活力、成熟度和责任感令人敬佩，是大家学习的榜样。我们也非常期待她在未来的持续成长！💙🧡

- “Observe the pace, not just the ball” – Don’t fight power with power. Sometimes absorbing energy is more effective on defense.
- “Always adjust your position after every dink” – Don't stay stationary, even a small step makes a difference. After each dink, take a moment to reposition and replant your feet. This keeps you balanced, alert, and ready for the next shot. Great footwork = great pickleball.

- “观察球速，而不只是盯着球” - 不要以力搏力，有时候在防守中借力化解比硬碰硬更有效。
- “每个丁克球之后都要调整站位” - 不要原地不动，即使是小小的一步也会产生影响。每打一拍丁克球，都要花一点时间重新调整站位并稳住双脚，这样可以让你保持平衡、保持警觉，为下一拍做好准备。脚步扎实，球技更佳！
