With the heart of the Marine Park, its monasteries, traditional villages, and the unpretentious hospitality of its people, it keeps alive a culture that respects the past while daring to envision the future. In this journey, Mayor Panagiotis Anagnostou and Deputy Mayor Alexandros Anagnostou play a pivotal role. With respect for cultural values, passion, and strategic vision, they support initiatives that highlight Alonissos as a hub of knowledge, creativity, and sustainable development.

As part of the cultural mission of the Hellenic-Cypriot Cultural Association (HCCA) in Alonissos, the following honorary distinctions were awarded with deep symbolism and dignity:



The “Key of Culture” was presented to the Mayor of Alonissos, Mr. Panagiotis Anagnostou, as a mark of profound appreciation and recognition for his substantial and multifaceted contribution to the island’s cultural development. The “Key of Culture” symbolizes access to knowledge and timeless cultural memory — and the Mayor of Alonissos holds it in his hands with well-deserved pride.



The “Torch of Culture” was awarded to the Deputy Mayor of Alonissos, Mr. Alexandros Anagnostou, for his active and radiant presence in joint cultural activities and his constant support for every initiative centered on people, knowledge, and place. The “Torch of Culture” symbolizes the light that inspires, the flame that is passed on, and the constant vigilance required to promote culture with passion, integrity, and dedication to the collective good.

These honorary distinctions are not merely titles of honor; they carry a deep symbolism of responsibility and commitment to continuing the cultural journey and to showcasing Alonissos as a place of inspiration and authenticity.



The Hellenic-Cypriot Cultural Association established the “Key of Culture” Award as its highest distinction, conferred upon individuals, bodies, or organizations that make a significant contribution to the promotion and dissemination of culture. It is awarded to people and institutions who, through their work, write their own worthy history, highlight the connection between culture and humanism, and consistently serve the well-understood development of the individual, society, and the world.



At the same time, the honorees were named Honorary Members of the Hellenic-Cypriot Cultural Association, further strengthening ties among creators, thinkers, intellectuals, and cultural organizations in Greece, Cyprus, and internationally. The “Key” and the “Torch” are not simply awards — they are symbols of cultural responsibility and legacy.
