We welcome Sylvia Wright to our April luncheon!

Image description

Sylvia first spoke to our group in November, and we are delighted to have her return as her campaign for South Carolina Superintendent of Education continues to gain momentum. With more than two decades of service in public education, Sylvia brings deep experience and a clear-eyed understanding of what our students, teachers, and schools truly need.

Her background as an educator, educational leader, military spouse, and parent gives her a broad and compassionate perspective on the challenges facing South Carolina’s public schools. Sylvia is running because she believes our state deserves an education leader who listens, leads with integrity, and puts students first.

At our April luncheon, Sylvia will share updates on her campaign, her vision for strengthening public education across South Carolina, and why she believes experienced educators belong in leadership at the state level.

At VOICE, we believe in lifting up leaders who reflect our values and commitment to community. If Sylvia’s message speaks to you, please consider supporting her campaign and helping us make a meaningful impact on education in South Carolina.

SAVE Act Update – Take Action Now

The President continues to push the Republican Senators to pass The SAVE Act.  This bill would require Americans to show documents like a passport or birth certificate to register to vote — creating barriers for millions of eligible voters including many women.

👉 Please call your U.S. Senators today and urge them to vote NO on the SAVE Act.

  • Use the 5 Calls app to contact your Congressman about issues that matter to you.                                                                                            The Center for Reproductive Rights are asking us to tell our representatives in Congress to stop the VA Abortion Ban

The House and Senate have both introduced Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions to formally overturn the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) recently finalized abortion rule—but these resolutions only succeed if enough lawmakers support them.

Congress has the power to overturn this dangerous rule and protect veterans' access to abortion care. Your Representatives and Senators need to hear from you now.

Contact your lawmakers today and tell them abortion is a fundamental human right that must be protected.

From Beverly Bruck:

This is a terrific website to encourage people to engage in combatting the destruction of our democracy. As Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), has said, "Every one of us can do something. When we do things together, this is the power of the people. All of us together become the tapestry of what we want." I, for one, want to live in a country free of tyranny. If you do as well, I encourage you to visit this site and take the necessary steps as we are in the fight of our lives – our existence as a free society.
