| Hi friends,
Opening Doors hosted two fantastic shows in February for Black History Month! You can watch video and see pictures of our show with Kemp Harris and Adam Osgood HERE and see pictures of our show with Regie Gibson and Reggie Harris HERE. |

This coming Saturday, Pamela Means and Alastair Moock will be performing "Race and Song: A Musical Conversation" in Putney, VT at Next Stage Arts. Then on Sunday, they'll be joined by Anand Nayak at McCarthy's in Cambridge, MA for an afternoon jam as part of Pamela's "Lez Rez" residency (this isn't strictly an Opening Doors concert, but it features three of our artists). |
|
On Friday, May 8, we're thrilled to present opera singer, hip-hop artist, and activist Zakiyyah for her show "Shades of Black: The Hip-Hopera" at Arlington UU Church in Arlington, MA. Read a Boston Globe feature on Zakiyyah HERE. Reserve free tickets for the show HERE. |
|
We also wanted to let you know that the Mass Cultural Council's Creative Experiences Grant, which offers funding of $2,500-$5,000 for projects and residencies in the arts, has just opened this year's application period.
Opening Doors has a fantastic track record of partnering with civic organizations, houses of worship, and schools on MCC grants. So, if you're connected with an organization and would like to bring one of our concerts to your town—or if you're connected with a school and would like to bring our education programs to your students—this is a great opportunity to do it!

The Opening Doors Project was founded in 2021 by Stacey Babb and Alastair Moock to promote meaningful interracial conversations around race through the arts. By bringing new cultural experiences to audiences nationwide, Opening Doors strives to promote and inspire the work of antiracism. Our community concerts and education programs are rooted in the conviction that candid conversation can open people’s minds, and great music can touch people’s hearts. |
