New York City Council candidate Dominick Romero endorsed former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) for New York City mayor in the 2025 municipal elections. Cuomo's campaign has become a flashpoint of controversy, given his record on the deadly nursing home scandal during the Coronavirus pandemic ; the closure of hospitals, including St. Vincent's Hospital in District 3 ; the housing crisis ; and his proximity to corruption scandals, including the premature closure of the Moreland Commission. Most notably, Cuomo was forced to resign following a #MeeToo scandal.

| After the Village Preservation Zoom, I raced to the Manhattan Community Board 4 meeting to testify against the NYCHA land-grab by MAGA billionaire Stephen Ross. |

I was the only New York City Council District 3 candidate to show up to Community Board 4 to testify during the public comments section. I questioned the judgment by community board members, who appear to be giving MAGA billionaire Stephen Ross an exemption to ULURP for the master plan that calls for the privatisation and wholesale demolition of public housing in Chelsea. I also stressed that doing this in the context of Project 2025 was dangerous.
Councilmember Erik Bottcher (D-District 3) was a no-show, and he wants to end Section 9 public housing against a backdrop of the MAGA agenda of President Donald Trump (R), who wants to cut Section 8 rental assistance vouchers. We call it a duopoly, because Democrats are complicit with Republicans in creating more and more suffering, poverty, and homelessness.
