Featuring guest speakers, local partners and moments from the day, the video brings our story to life and celebrates the difference we’ve made together over the past 30 years.

A Huge Thank You to Max, Beaverbrooks and Everyone Who Fundraised for Useful Vision!

Image description

A huge thank you to Max Stephens for taking on the Great North Run in support of Useful Vision, raising an amazing £1,383 - generously match-funded by his employer Beaverbrooks, doubling the impact for visually impaired children and their families.

Max and Beaverbrooks Manager Shane Burnett joined our Health Promotion Senior Manager Julie Stephens for the official cheque handover, captured in the photo above.

Max was joined by an amazing team of fundraisers who together helped raise almost £8000 for Useful Vision this year.  We’re so grateful to everyone who took part, donated or supported the team.  Every pound raised helps create more opportunities, adventures and tailored support for visually impaired children across the North East.

👉 Any support you can give will make a difference to local people.

"New Borns, New Norms" -

Best Start Pregnancy Event

Image description

On 18 November, our Best Start team hosted their second New Borns, New Norms pregnancy event - a friendly, myth-busting session designed to help expectant Newcastle families feel more confident and prepared for life with a new baby.

Held at One Strawberry Lane, the event welcomed around 40 guests, including partners, grandparents, friends and wider family members. Together, they explored some of the most common myths about newborn behaviour and learned what really supports babies to thrive in those precious early months.

The evening was full of positive energy, shared experiences and great conversations - and the feedback was fantastic.

One attendee said:  “The event adjusted my expectations of normal baby behaviour, normalised them and was really helpful and informative - thank you!”

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to the Best Start team for creating such a welcoming and informative session.
