Q1 Supervisory Board Meeting in Frankfurt

On 12 February 2026, EDFA held its Q1 2026 Supervisory Board Meeting in Frankfurt alongside the Frankfurt Digital Finance Conference, hosted by Digital Invest Germany. The Supervisory Board welcomed new members, reviewed EDFA’s priorities for 2026 and beyond and took stock of EDFA’s current programmes and community formats.

Fintech Visits - February 2026

EDFA hosted the February Fintech Visits to DG FISMA session, spotlighting Bulgaria and bringing together Fintech Bulgaria and DG FISMA for an in-person exchange on key implementation topics across PSD3/PSR, CCD2, MiCA, DORA, eIDAS 2.0 and AML. The session highlighted the value of direct dialogue between national ecosystems and EU policymakers.

On 3 February, EDFA hosted the February Fintech Café, an informal online gathering bringing together fintech associations and ecosystem representatives.

Working Group Highlights

EDFA’s working groups continue to bring together experts and members from across Europe to discuss key developments shaping the future of digital finance.

  • AI Digital and Data Security: The Working Group continues to exchange on the EU AI Act implementation in financial services. The latest session included a regulator's view from the Irish Central Bank Innovation Hub on AI sandboxes and a member case study on CCD2 and AI-supported creditworthiness.

  • Open Finance: The Working Group discussed the current state of play of FiDA and the importance of maintaining constructive engagement at the EU level. The exchange highlighted the need for clear messaging focused on competitiveness and the Single Market, alongside coordination with relevant ecosystem initiatives.

  • Blockchain & Crypto: The Working Group exchanged on the DLT Pilot Regime and MiCAR supervision, with a focus on supporting market uptake and strengthening supervisory convergence across Member States. The session also featured member presentations on tokenised securities registries, issuance infrastructure, and DLT use cases in practice. The discussion will inform EDFA’s response to the European Commission’s Call for Evidence on the Savings and Investments Union.

  • ECSP (Crowdfunding): The Working Group discussed scalability and practical implementation topics under the ECSP Regulation, including EDFA’s published letter on the EUR 5m threshold. Members also exchanged on LEI requirements, KIIS cost disclosure, investor education, and the strong uptake for the Malaga programme at ICAFR26.

On 24 February ItaliaFintech took part in a closed‑door meeting in Rome with John Berrigan, Director‑General for Financial Stability, Financial Services and Capital Markets Union (DG FISMA) at the European Commission.

The discussion focused on key priorities for the European digital finance ecosystem, including regulatory developments, competitiveness, and the role of fintech in supporting innovation and market growth. ItaliaFintech contributed its perspective on how to strengthen the sector and enhance collaboration between institutions and industry players.
