Get Involved in the Party! ✋

We have two precinct chair vacancies: Hamblen 2 and Van Buren. Precinct chairs play an important role in keeping their Democrat neighbors informed about elections and candidates. They also serve as voting members of the committee. If you live in one of these precincts (Lora can check to make sure!), and are interested in volunteering, email party chair Lora Lewis Rudd at [email protected].

After the last meeting, Mel Plaisier agreed to serve as our new Treasurer! Thank you, Mel!

Party vice chair Jacob Quackenbush is leading a Young Democrats group for Brown County. If you're a young person who wants to get involved, or know a young person who does, contact Jacob at [email protected] to get plugged in.

Candidate Updates 🌟

Brad Meyer, Congressional candidate for House District 9, hosted a town hall before the February meeting and was represented at the meeting by two campaign volunteers.

Tim Peck, also Congressional candidate for House District 9, attended the February meeting and shared his background. Tim is an emergency physician who lives on a farm in Clark County, which is a hospital desert (similar to Brown County). He spoke about affordability, healthcare in rural areas, ways to diminish the monopoly power of health insurance companies, and problems with ICE.

Amy Oliver, candidate for Indiana statehouse district 62, shared her campaign's many volunteer and fundraising opportunities coming up in March:

  • Every Wednesday in March: Phone bank for Amy at her Nashville HQ from 3-5pm, sign up here. They will provide training and a script to make calling super easy.

  • Tuesday, March 17: Concert Fundraiser, 6pm, Nashville United Methodist Church. Enjoy jazz, classical, and music from Amy's son!
