| VIDEO: Reuniting After a Life-Saving Call |
Earlier this winter, Middlebury resident Lee and his wife, Annie, visited the MREMS station to reconnect with the responders and bystanders who helped |

| save Lee’s life after he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest last fall. Their visit was a powerful reminder of what coordinated emergency care - and a prepared system - can make possible.
On a sunny fall afternoon in central Middlebury, Lee collapsed while playing pickleball. Bystanders immediately began CPR and retrieved an AED from a nearby building. Middlebury Police arrived quickly, joined by off-duty EMTs who heard the call and diverted to the scene. Within minutes, a MREMS paramedic-staffed ambulance arrived and advanced care continued. Working together, the team achieved return of spontaneous circulation, and Lee was transported to Burlington for further cardiac care.
This video launches Survivor Stories, a new series highlighting lifesaving outcomes and the people behind them.

| Training Together to Save Lives |
Last month, We hosted the Middlebury Police Department for a CPR, AED, and bleeding-control refresher. Law enforcement is often first on scene, and in medical emergencies, the first few minutes can make all the the difference. |
| |
| Early CPR, rapid AED use, and immediate bleeding control save lives. Training together strengthens the same chain of survival highlighted in our Survivor Stories — where preparation, coordination, and decisive action lead to better outcomes. By practicing side-by-side, responders build shared skills and confidence that carry directly into real-world emergencies.
In addition to partner training with local agencies, MREMS provides first aid and lifesaving classes for workplaces and community organizations across Addison County, helping more people recognize emergencies and act quickly when it matters most.
