'Thirst: In Search of Freshwater' explores humanity’s vital connection with freshwater as an essential source of life and pillar of good health. From ancient Mesopotamia and Victorian London to modern-day Nepal and Singapore, the exhibition highlights the vital role of freshwater in shaping health and ecosystems; the consequences of mismanagement, like the spread of infectious disease; and community-led solutions to the global water crisis. Involving more than 120 artists, craftspeople and self-taught makers from across Japan, Hyakkō is a celebration of contemporary Japanese craft aesthetics. This exhibition presents works in clay, glass, wood, leather, metal and bamboo – from ceramic matcha bowls to metal teapots and urushi lacquerware trays. The arts should be accessible to everyone, so don't let the high entry fees stop you from going out and enjoying some live music, a performance or exhibition.
