The Antisocial Author

After some soul searching and weighing my options, I deleted all of my social media accounts. Instead of scrolling, I'm blogging.

My new blog, called The Antisocial Author (fitting, right?), is where I'm chronicling my life and sharing the things that are meaningful to me. You will find personal stuff about what I'm doing day-to-day, writing updates, my thoughts on random things in the news, and, yes, alot of my excitement about the upcoming AMC show The Vampire Lestat.

You will also find a longish post about my reasons for leaving socials behind, which has nothing to do with all you wonderful people, and everything to do with the people running the show and making trillions of dollars off our attention.

The Vampire Lestat Wants YOU.

AMC's The Vampire Lestat is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ on June 7th.

Honestly, trying to keep my head up in these turbulent and unprecedented times is an ongoing battle, but one thing that keeps me going is this freaking show! The Vampire Lestat is actually Season 3 of AMC's Interview with the Vampire, which excellently adapted the first of Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles to the small screen. Her follow-up novel, The Vampire Lestat, changes narrators and tone in a drastic and most entertaining way. I remember when I first read it, I had to check that it was actually the same author, because it was so completely opposite to the first book, and much more FUN!

Lestat as a character is mercurial and entertaining, and Sam Reid has portrayed him with incredible adeptness since season one of the show. He has literally become Lestat on screen, with all of Lestat's talents and abilities, his questionable choices and vulnerabilities, his beauty and brashness. I LOVE this character, particularly as played by Reid.

AMC's The Vampire Lestat promises to show the character at the peak of his powers, but hints that Lestat's past comes back to haunt him and derail his attempts at superstardom.

Everything I have seen in the trailers and sneak peaks makes me even more excited for this show.

The Vampire Lestat is streaming on AMC and AMC+.

There will also be a companion show called The Vampire Lestat: After Dark to take you on a deep dive into each episode, with interviews and appearances from the cast. The first episode of After Dark became available on AMC+ this past Sunday and will stream on AMC on the 31st, and after every episode (some will only be available on AMC+).

As a super fan I have dedicated a page on my website to trailers and teasers and fan-made edits for Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. But be forewarned, there are spoilers for the show, so if you don't want to know anything before going in, this page isn't for you. If you've already seen all the trailers and teasers and photos, this is a place where everything is collected for enjoyable rewatching.

I wrote this very short fanfic for an Interview with the Vampire charity zine that raised money for two great causes (one international and one local).

Reginald Banks thinks he's invisible and that his writing career will never amount to much.

That is, until he is visited by a mysterious stranger named Lestat de Lioncourt, who asks him probing questions about a shameful dalliance Banks recently enjoyed with a man named Louis.
