Spring Blossom Parade & Ice Cream Social This Saturday! May 2 🍦 |
|
The Brown County Democrats, Amy Oliver's campaign, and Brown County Indivisible will all be walking in the Spring Blossom Parade as separate entities but all in a row. To walk with us, meet at the Brown County High School parking lot between 10-11am. We typically gather near the gymnasium. The parade begins at 11am. The Democrats will also have a wagon that some folks can ride in instead of walking.
If you prefer not to be in the parade, watch with fellow Democrats at the Village Green Pavilion, where Christy Crandall will provide live music before the parade.
After the parade, join us at the Village Green Pavilion at 12pm for free ice cream and to hear from a variety of Democratic speakers: Carey Hamilton, Indiana State Representative & House Democratic Caucus Chair All four Democratic candidates for US House, Indiana District 9: Brad Meyer, Keil Roark, Tim Peck, and Jim Graham Amy Huffman Oliver, Candidate for IN House District 62 Bill Todd, Candidate for Brown County Council, District 3

Party Updates & Volunteer Opportunities ✋ |
|
Treasurer's Report The party donated $1,500 to Amy Oliver's campaign earlier this month, leaving us with $2,852 in our account. We earned $103 from t-shirt sales, which has not yet been deposited. Mel Plaisier is in the process of onboarding as our new treasurer.
Ice Cream Social & Speakers Marion volunteered to emcee the ice cream social and introduce our speakers. Each candidate will have a maximum of 5 minutes to speak.
Election Protection Lead Volunteer We are seeking a volunteer to serve as the lead point of contact for election protection on election day. This role will be on call to hear reports of any incidents or improper procedure at polling locations, and will consult with the INDEMS team of lawyers to determine any action needed. Legal experience preferred.
County Fair The Brown County Fair will be June 8-13. Now that the party owns two fryers, we discussed adding a fried potato option alongside our usual fish sandwiches. Lora will check with our frozen fish supplier to see what frozen potato options they have available.
Concert for Democracy The Concert for Democracy is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, September 20 to avoid conflicting with a Friends of Lake Monroe event that may attract some of our audience. More details to be provided soon!
Vice Chairperson Vacancy Jacob will be resigning his role as party Vice Chair at the end of June to focus on his newly expanded work responsibilities. He will remain in his role as a precinct vice chair. Thank you for your leadership, Jacob!
At our meeting on June 23, we will caucus to determine a new party Vice Chair. This role supports our Chair, Lora, with the vital work of organizing, administering, and leading the party.
Get Involved! Are you interested in volunteering for any of the opportunities listed above? Email party chair Lora Lewis Rudd at [email protected]. |
