Afro Brasilica

a musically-rooted creative residency
at CONTXT by Trane - Thursdays @ 8 PM

Launching March 26, 2026 | RSVP

Doors @ 7 pm| Show 8 pm - 11 pm PWYC

with unique programming every week!

Episode 00 features poetry - put thoughts on paper & hop on the mic if you wish to share

A few months ago, we were invited to curate and produce a residency that had some bones, yet wasn't fully activated. It had a a venue, a name from the venue's founder, a time and a place. People, food, ideas and inspiration. It sought out a team that could breathe life into it, expanding the core ideas - episodically - like a real time podcast, its introduction would be:

Sound. Movement. Conversation.
A rhythm rooted deep, branching outward.

Circles forming. Ideas unfolding.
Layers connecting like rings in wood.

Afro Brasilica.

The two words - Afro Brasilica - are not solely about culture or music - but in relation to its namesake wood material: ever-evolving and layered.

We are here to share that Trust The Process Press (ICYMI, the print matter project + DJ duo founded by myself, Ola, and partner Rhandy Adolphe) is curating, producing and hosting a weekly night at Toronto jazz progenitor, CONTXT by Trane, at 254 Lansdowne Ave (Map).

While rooted in music including but not limited to: Brazilian Samba, Afro-Latin, Latin Jazz - and far beyond - the project expands on the idea of community cultivation through shared expression within CONTXT.

Programming will vary and we'll be bringing in other members of the community to gather and connect over poetry and visual art workshops, live discussions, film screenings, guest DJ sets and performances.

Everything begins Thursday, March 26 - RSVP here!

Doors at 7:00 pm. Show runs 8:00 pm til 11:00 pm - weekly.
Stop by for dinner at 5:30 pm onward for rotating, themed menu specials!

The event entry fee is Pay-What-You-Can.

We'll be spinning music all night (a mix of vinyl + digital selections). The series opening this week will include writing materials to pen some poetry. Hop on the mic if you wish to share!

Would love to see you next week - and if you'd like to get involved, swing by to chat with us!  April programming calendar TBA.

Much love and gratitude,

Trust The Process Press

About Trust The Process Press

Trust The Process Press (TTPP) is an independent print matter project by Ola Mazzuca and Rhandy Adolphe. The creative imprint is an extension of Ola’s multimedia journalism platform, Sonic Fold, and Rhandy’s artistic identity as SAMBARanthony. Both combine and express their mutual passion for the arts, community building and exploring new places. TTPP is a means for them to share these ideas and experiences alongside readers near and far.  Their zine, MiBoSo, lives in bookstores and third spaces in Toronto, Miami and New York.

Both journalists by trade, as a DJ duo, they take pride in being thoughtful curators and selectors of international music that sparks conversation and curiosity — sounds that foster connection and collaboration, honour heritage, while fueling movement.

About Afro Brasilica

Afro Brasilica is a multidisciplinary creative residency that champions sound, movement and conversation. Rooted in music, including but not limited to: Brazilian Samba, Afro-Latin, Latin Jazz - and beyond - the project expands on the idea of community cultivation through shared expression within CONTXT. Through dynamic DJ sets, visual art, poetry, dialogue, guest performances, spirited libations and curated tapas, Afro Brasilica weaves a limitless, intentional approach like the rings of its latter-namesake material; intricate and unique, yet, connected and intersectional.

About MiBoSo Zine

MiBoSo is a zine connected to Mind, Body and Soul. For Issue 1, Trust The Process Press share travel experiences between Miami, Florida, and Mexico City through vibrant film and digital photography, accompanied by haiku poetry composed at every step of the journey. Reflective imagery and intuitive prose unveil raw, personal, and public perspectives that emerge in the present moment, while immersed in adventure-induced revelations. The work explores self-awareness and discovering new comfort zones when facing the facts in other places.
