In The Fold:

April Awareness

[ projects, ideas, people, music, reflection & radio ]

Image description

Quote of the month: "I can tell it takes a long time to put that together."

March was a trek that embodied pushing-boulder-uphill energy exploring the new and fighting the fatigue of endless frigidity (cold winter).

You know that feeling of launching an idea or initiative, unsure of how (or if) it will fly? The doubt, the belief, the preparation, the production, the trials, the errors, the wins, the other side, the "hey, it's over? it all went by so fast!" That was every single week. But hey, now it's time to put reflection in motion, cultivating, growing and blooming like a real, new year.

March-ing Onwards:

National Audition Submissions Open

for Honey Jam Artist Development Program - Info

Image description

Ever wonder how newly-inducted Canadian Music Hall of Fame member Nelly Furtado got her start?

Well, one of many pivotal moments occurred in 1997 at a showcase for Honey Jam - a Toronto-founded (by the great Ebonnie Rowe, Order of Canada), internationally recognized non-profit multicultural, multi-genre artist development program.

I've had the honour and pleasure of attending numerous Honey Jam showcases, events and being a part of their annual Mentorship Cafe over the years. This organization means a lot to my home city, to me, an array of clients, past and present, and arts community as a whole.

Spreading the good word that auditions are now open for 2026! See details here. Chosen artists will receive educational, networking, mentoring and performance opportunities, vocal/performance coaching and workshops featuring industry professionals.

Rhythm Dialogues:
Emotional Cartography of Place - Info

Image description

My friends and colleagues at Blok Design have launched Rhythm Dialogues: a new platform for creative exchange. Working at the intersection of multiple art forms—dance, music, art, poetry, writing, philosophy, photography, film, design—it seeks to create space for individuals and artists to transcend creative boundaries through open-ended experimentation.

Housed in a redesigned 1974 Airstream trailer, the residency can take place anywhere in Canada the artist chooses. Guided by the 2026 theme of "Emotional Cartography", Rhythm Dialogues invites artists to respond to the emotional, cultural, and ecological contours of place.

Application Deadline: April 17,2026

Residency Timing: June–September 2026
Residency Duration: 1–4 weeks
Locations: Sites across Canada
