Think of three words.
These words could describe the day you’d like to have, the day you’ve
already had or how you’re currently feeling.
Try not to spend a lot of time thinking of your
three words.
Write them down so you don’t forget them. Set a timer, for example 5 minutes.
Write as much as you can in that time. It can be about whatever you want,
it doesn’t have to make sense or have the correct spelling, grammar or punctuation, as long as your three chosen words are mentioned somewhere.
Simply free yourself and let out any thoughts that come to mind.
The purpose of free-writing is to release any initial thoughts from your mind. It can increase creativity and inspiration or free up a busy mind.
Some authors and poets find it helpful to do this exercise
when experiencing writer’s-block. Some even do it at the start of the day as soon as they wake up or at the end before going
to sleep.
