With churches across the land, and in accord with our silver Ecochurch status, we are screening this film, created by climate change experts. It’s a hard-hitting story and rated 16. A planning group - including Kelvin, Jesse Norman MP, our own Ecochurch team and John Kyrle High School’s head girl and boy - has already viewed this film in St Mary’s, taken part in their own discussion and are firmly behind the initiative. The Ross Heritage Walks are back for another season. There's one on the third Wednesday of the month until September. By popular request, we're also repeating them on the last Saturday of the month.
If you come on Wednesdays, why not stay on for the free lunchtime talk in St Mary's Church at 1.00pm. You could grab your lunch from one of the excellent High Street outlets and go up and eat in in church or in the churchyard. Details immediately below.
In August we'll be taking a look at the stories behind some of the twelve Museum Without Walls sites around the town. In September, Mark Eardley will visit sites associated with the 18th Century Wye Tour. Please note the changed date of the second of Mark's walks from Sunday to Saturday. |

Rachel Morley’s book captures the magical experience of poking around a dusty village church, only to have it transform – through her expert eyes – into a portal to the past, one that brings England’s people and history to life in the most colourful, moving and unexpected ways.

If you came along for Michael Lunts' Christmas Cracker during the Christmas Tree Festival, you'll know that he is a very talented performer. This will be a wonderful event. A very different genre this time:
A musical drama about Elgar, focusing on his relationship with his beloved wife Alice. The friends who inspired the famous ‘Enigma Variations’ are also brought to life as, following the death of Alice, Elgar’s senior by a number of years, the composer muses on the origins of that first acknowledged masterpiece, a work that put him on the musical map, and which may never have seen the light of day but for Alice’s encouragement and inspiration. |
