We hope you have had a great week. For us, this week has been a busy week as usual but also incredibly productive. It was British Flowers Week, an event we always love, as it gives us an opportunity to to pause for a moment and reflect on how proud we are of the wonderful team who work tirelessly to care for, pick and arrange out beautiful British blooms.
This week, we want to tell you: Barry is thrilled that the weather has enabled him to mow, ted, rake and bale some of the fields, making a whopping 289 bales this week alone! Nanda did a lovely video for FlowerVision in honour of of British Flower week that we've managed to get our hands on what is in the veg pack shed what will be in next week's boxes and the recipe we will be making next week.

| | Getting ready for the winter months |
|
It may sound crazy to be thinking about winter when there is all of this lovely sunshine at the moment, but when you farm livestock you always have to keep the next 6-12 months in focus.
So, this week, whenever he got a spare moment, Barry was out in the fields, mowing grass. The cut grass then lays out in the sun for a couple of days and is turned regularly allowing it to dry, before its raked into rows and baled a couple of days later.
During the winter months, our herd of cows will get through 6 hay bales per day, meaning we need A LOT to get through the season. Last year, we had a very hot and dry summer which meant that we didn't have enough grass on our farm, and we had to buy in a lot of organic hay bales! This year has already started better weather-wise which has enabled us to cut more of our own grass. Let's hope it stays that way! |
