| | Good evening,
Not to state the obvious, but it is HOT. With temperatures reaching 38 degrees on the farm yesterday, everyone was on a go slow - even the machinery.
Our livestock aren't too happy in this weather either. They find any bit of shade they can, and pile underneath. We are very lucky that our land is nestled nicely in a loop of the river Wye, which means that not only do they have ample space to roam, they often have constant access to the river! Better than being cooped up in a barn...
This week, we have less to tell you, purely because it has been too hot to do much, but we do want to tell you: We have lots of Zinnias in the polytunnel, and Nanda takes us on a little tour to show us what else is growing... Venison is not only really good for the you, but it is great for the planet, too! NEW - Blackcurrants are now available to buy on our website, so this week's recipe is for one of our favourite breakfast items - Blackcurrant jam.

Our flower team have been working through this heat to water and pick our beautiful blooms. This week, Nanda braved the scorching midday temperatures of the polytunnel to take us on a little tour of what we've got growing at the moment. |

|
Choosing wild venison is a powerful way to support both your health and our countryside.
Because wild deer roam free and forage on a natural diet of grasses and berries, their meat is entirely free from antibiotics and hormones. This creates a nutritional powerhouse that is higher in protein than beef, yet lower in fat and calories than skinless chicken breast.
Managing wild deer populations is vital for conservation, as it protects our young woodlands from overgrazing and allows local biodiversity to thrive. By enjoying this exceptionally lean, iron-rich meat, you are choosing a truly sustainable food that works in perfect harmony with nature.
We currently don't have any in stock, but will be culling the deer on our estate from 1 August, so keep your eyes peeled as we will be running venison promotions very soon! |
