There are now over 30 aircraft registered to fly-in for the weekend events, and we've already exceeded 40 registered guests to our Main Event Dinner on Saturday October 17th to be held in the clubroom and deck on the 17th.
Dinner is prepared by a Ballarat based caterer, offering three roast meats, vegetables and roast potatoes and vegetables, with choice of 3 desserts.
Club bar will be open for drinks at the usual prices 🙂 |

Preparations for the Airport Open Day running over the weekend are well underway, with already many aircraft to be out on display, plus: We have a food truck and a coffee van organised, plus we'll be running a club barbeque sausage sizzle throughout the weekend!
STOP PRESS!!! Blast Aviation, the RA flying school, are offering FREE 15 minute TIF throughout the Saturday as part of their suite of Open Day activities - book in a flight in advance to be sure to not miss out!

| | Sunday 18th October is FLY DAY!
Fly Day is our new regular club activity - here's how it works:
- club members meet at the club room from 10am
- chip in a contribution to the fuel fund (contribute ass much as you like: $20, $50, $80, even $0 😉)
- members with aircraft may then bid to claim some of the fuel fund to take fuel contributors flying!
Although it is entirely up to the aircraft owner, flights will be generally dependent on fuel fund. That is smaller contributions might involve a few circuits, while larger contributions could help fund longer flights.
This month, on the second day of our Open Day, Mike will have HUO the R44 out, and Wasif will have RXJ ready! If you'd like to be involved, please let us know in advance or just show up on the day!

| | Did you notice that the bee hives housing our pollenating heroes taking care of the canola crop surrounding the airfield are situated very close to the threshold of runway 10 (western end of 28/10)? Apart from being critically important to a successful canola crop, large swarms of bees can make quite a mess of your air intakes and engine cooling fins - so avoid approaching too low over the hives! Also, please take care when departing to avoid aircraft-insect interactions on departure! |

| | Negotiations with the organisers of Avalon27, running from 23rd to 28th February, are currently underway.
Like previous years, the event organisers are offering our club the opportunity to host fly-in visitors a convenient airport to park and camp or to use as a base while attending the air show.
Once again, club members willing to display their aircraft at the air show under the Geelong Sports Aviators banner will receive free general admission tickets for the pilot and all passengers flying in to Avalon.
